Governor Bii Gives a Nide to Projects Set to Kick Off in Various Settlements Under KISIP Program

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim, has given a big node to projects set to kick start in various Informal Settlements under the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Programme; currently underway with Public Participations across the Settlements in Uasin Gishu County.

Joining the residents of Ngomongo Settlement in Kimumu ward , Governor Bii explained the tremendous infrastructural developments from the project that include, road tarmacking that will increase transportation of fresh farm produce to Kimumu market.
The sewerage system that will enhance the quality of livelihood through hygienic handling of liquid waste.
The high mast lights and street lights that are set to jump-start a 24- hour economy to traders in the settlement.
A social amenity for childcare was also proposed for construction at Kimumu bahati market to assist mothers operate their businesses well while still providing care to their young once in a safe environment.

“Eldoret becoming a city has come with an increased allocation of funds in our Informal Settlements and we expect to transform our economic status through this major developments brought by KISIP. Other sectors like tourism, hospitality and housing will automatically get a boost through such developments. I also want to assure the residents of Ngomongo that all manual jobs during the program implementation shall be carried forth by the locals, ” emphasized Bii.

In a rejoinder, CECM Lands Mr. Anthony Sitienei, noted the good turn up by the residents, while commending them for the peaceful election of Settlement Executive Committee (SEC)Members and the Grevance Redress Committee (GRC)Members for project oversight in the settlement.

The National Project Coordinating team led by Ms. Zenah Kurui, noted that the programs success was dependent on the residents support and ownership of the project.
