Governors to Petition TSC Over Teacher Delocalization
The Council of Governors(COG) is planning to petition the Teacher’s Service Commission (TSC) to address teachers stagnation and incomplete reversal of the scrapped delocalization process.
On Saturday Kakamega Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa stated that even though Education is not a fully devolved function, the Teachers Commission should review a number of policies some which have seen teachers stagnate in one grade for more than ten years.
The Governor was speaking when he attended the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), Kakamega Branch Annual General Meeting at Hill School, Kakamega.
Through the COG Education Committee led by Kericho Governor H.E Erick Mutai, FCPA Barasa said they will petition the Commission so that teachers’ promotion is prioritised. Further, he emphasized that the Council will also petition TSC to see to it that all teachers who were delocalized are reinstated to their home stations.
KNUT Deputy Secretary General Hesbon Otieno noted that despite the recent move to cushion teachers against new statutory deductions, teachers need more incentives.
