Uasin Gishu Prepared For Elnino-Governor Bii
Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii now saya the county’s El Nino preparedness is progressing smoothly.
He spoke after holding a productive meeting with officials representing various sectors, forming the County Emergency Committee.
Bii says his administration has implemented proactive measures to mitigate the potential negative impact of El Nino.
“These measures include ongoing mapping of vulnerable areas, assessing our roads, riparian zones, and dams, as well as unclogging our drainage systems among others,” he said.
“In collaboration with the national government, we are establishing 12 drying facilities at the grassroots level to support our farmers. Furthermore, we will distribute 60,000 kilograms of sunflower seeds to our farmers during the El Nino period,” he added.
In attendance were my deputy, Engineer John Barorot, County Commissioner Dr. Eddyson Nyale, who co-chairs the committee, Representatives from various organizations such as the Kenya Red Cross and Kenya Rural Roads Authority, county security teams, CECMs, and other stakeholders.
