Governor Rotich Condemns Kaben Attacks
Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich has condemned criminal activity at Kaben which led to the burning of a vehicle.
He says the attack is uncalled for and ill intended.
“I wish to condemn with the strongest terms the criminal activity conducted by few criminals at Kaben last night that led to the burning of a vehicle by same criminals,” he said.
He noted that after the community positively identified a hardcore criminal they notified the authorities who swiftly arrested the criminal with the help of NPR, however the fellow criminals ganged up trying to force release but they were repulsed by the police and NPR at Liter police station.
“We are reliably informed that the same criminal was the one who was forcefully discharged at Iten Referral hospital and is now in custody. We urge the police to arrest all criminals who want to disturb the much needed peace.I urge the community to continue identifying and producing all criminals in both communities for us to achieve lasting peace,” he added.
He further noted that the Judiciary should ensure punitive punishment to criminals so as to deter reoccurrence.
“For us to achieve lasting peace we have to come together and call out the few remaining criminals so that our children and women can live like other Kenyans. We have made tremendous progress and we can’t allow to go back. I applaud the NPR for the supportive role to the police towards the arrest of the hardcore criminals,” he said.
