Women Should be Involved in decision Making- Ngososei
Women should be involved in every activity pertaining to the running of the Country.
The Director Of Rural Initiative for Sustainable Development Stephen Mosasei, said the role of women in society is very important and they need to be involved in issues of engagement and third-gender rule and decision-making.
“Women play an important role in our society and they can be part of promoting peace and security mainly at the village level, at the sub-county, and the county level,” he said.
The Meeting was convened by NCCK Northrift region with support from UNwomen under the wadada wa pawa project.
It was attended by civil society organizations in Uasin Gishu, the United Nations Security Council’s efforts to engage women in peace and security matters around the world.
“In most cases, males are given a chance in decision making and women are left out so we want to engage everyone in decision making, with support and I believe with the support of NCCK we will achieve our goal,” he added.
He further noted that the issue of inheritance among women will be considered by all means, as it is their right.
“The issue of inheritance among women and young mothers is a powerful challenge so we will deal with it by involving the Nyumba kumi, village elders, and administration at the village levels, to ensure that women’s rights on the inheritance are upheld and include the discussion about the policies and the laws that are supporting the communities on such issues,” he added.
According to The Program Coordinator at Kerio Rights organisation, Fred Siele Civil social organizations in Uasin Gishu county got to work and support each other to make sure peace and security among women are enhanced.
“Today’s meeting has motivated us to work together to educate women on enhancing peace and security so that they can overcome the traumas that they are facing in their villages, we are also very ready to help anyone who is facing challenges with inheritance, they can reach us and see where we can help and if their case is within our control we can refer them to anyone who can help them,” he assured.
