Eldoret: Youths Urged to Access County Services For Financial Empowerment

Youths have been urged to visit County youth affairs offices to access services that are given to line to empower them.

Speaking during a training organized by NCCK and UN Women about peace and security in Eldoret, Bornes Melly a youth officer from Uasin Gishu county recognized the effort NCCK has made and encouraged youth to visit youth affairs offices to access services preserved for them.

Melly said that the county through the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs is rolling out a training of youth service to help them acquire skills

“As the county, we are rolling out training to youth known dubbed youth service to train youth and help them to acquire skills and promote peace in the community, ”said Melly

The youth affairs officer advised youths to join cooperatives so that they can be able to get funds to empower themselves financially.

“We urge our youth to join cooperatives so that they can use the funds given to cooperatives to empower themselves economically and earn a living instead of waiting for the white collar jobs which are limited”, said the youth affairs officer

Emmanuel Langat a boda boda operator urged the organizers and the government to make the training regular so as to help those who are in Boda Boda sector learn more about promoting peace in society saying their sector has been taken as a crime sector

“Am very happy for this training on security and peace and I am calling upon the the government to make this training regular because we are usually left out and our boda boda sector has been taken as promoting crime”, said Lang’at

The training to enlighten youth from different sectors from six Sub-Counties of Uasin Gishu County in promoting peace in the county using early warning early response organized by NCCK North Rift and un women UNSCR 2250.
