The Child Welfare Society of Kenya Launches Food Program in ASAL’s Schools

The Child Welfare Society of Kenya has launched a food program for KCPE, KCSE, and, KEPSEA students in Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet Counties.

According to Jane Mwangi representative from the Child Welfare Society of Kenya, this will help students stay in school since most of them come from poor backgrounds.

The organization was partnering with area MPSs’ to make sure that all needy students are reached.


“This food program has benefited 23 secondary schools in Mogotio, Baringo County, and 122
primary schools in Keiyo South, Elgeyo Marakwet County,” Mwangi while speaking to the press.
She said thye received information from the area MP that the students were suffering lack of food to sustain them in school.

“We also give them motivational talks to keep off from drugs, FGM, and eerily marriages which could affect their education. We will support you to be in schools and be who you want to be in the future,” she added.

Mwangi called on students to be disciplined for the country to have a better generation and they cannot become who they want to be without discipline.

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KEPSEA) are set to commence early next week from October 30th to November 2nd, while the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education KCSE to start from November 3rd to November 23rd according to the ministry of education calendar.

The candidates have thanked the area MP’s office in partnership with the child welfare society for the donation, for it will inspire them to achieve their targets.

”I stand before you on behalf of the candidates and first I would like to thank the MP’s office the CEO and the child welfare society for the donation they have brought to us therefore we promise to work hard and their efforts will not go in vain for we will achieve our target of 323,” said Bronny Kosgei from Maji Moto Secondary, Baringo County.

Some students being from areas prone to drought and food scarcity have considered the program as of much aid in beating the calamity.

The teachers also extended their gratitude to all the concerned teams for it will create a great influence on the candidate’s performance.

“This is a good initiative from the bottom of my heart I want to thank the Child Welfare Society of Kenya CEO Irene Mureithi for coming up with this initiative and the area MP for remembering us,” Mugurini Secondary School Principal.

“I want to take this opportunity to appreciate all of us especially our visitors from the welfare society for supporting our children who will be sitting for their exam beginning next week, we all understand that this is a unique country because sometimes children go to school without food, and by coming on board to show you support we appreciate,” said Moses Kigen a representative from the office of the area mp.

The committee of the Child Welfare Society has therefore urged the candidates to work hard and set aside their fears for the exams entails common questions.
