Magombe and Bumamu Cooperatives Benfit From ECDE Feeding Program
Busia County Government through the Department of Education and Industrial Skills has contracted Bunyala Sub County based Magombe Multi-purpose Cooperative Society and Bumamu Rice Farmers respectively to supply rice for Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) school feeding programme at a pocket-friendly price.
The County Executive Committee Member for Education and Industrial Skills Training (CECM) Beatrice Nakholi remarked that the department will follow up every step on the feeding program to ensure its sustainability.
The Chief Officer for Education Phaustine Ounoi revealed the department is also keen on the bursary and Governor’s scholarship to ensure all needy and derserving cases get to school.
Mr Ounoi urged youths to embrace Vocational Training Centres to advance life skills that can easily earn them self employment.
In the phase 1 of the initiative, a school in all the seven sub-counties will benefit from the chairs and tables that were made by students from the Busia VTC.
