One Year In office:Chief Principal Transforming Kakamega School

When he was transferred to head Kakamega High school from Litein High School which was a top performer, it was a taunting task that needed spiritual guidance to overcome but Chief Principal Julius Mambili took the challenge positively as he believed he had all it takes to revamp the academic stagnation being witnessed at the institution.
He reported at Kakamega High school in 2023 and embarked on bringing sanity to the school that was dwindling both academically and co curriculum activities.
However,it was not an easy thing as the Principal meet a lot of resistance from the a section of cartels.
The Principal took a move of recovery road to revive the school’s image, population and performance that has put it on a roadmap to success as the most improving school in Western region.
With now a swelling population of over 2000 students, Mr.Mambili has been the driving force behind ensuring that the institution’s performance remains relevant throughout the coming years.
The principal vision is to have Kakamega High school become a Centre of excellence that will empower young people with the right skills, values and attitudes, to secure higher education and guarantee them entry into careers that will enable them to contribute positively towards building of the nation.
Under the headship of Mr.Mambili,now Kakamega High school remains in the academic limelight with the assistance of an abled and effective students council.
As part of maintaining its image, the entire teaching staff aspire to uphold high levels of professionalism obtainable through competence and pertinent skills, the staff also regard teamwork as a prerequisite in teaching and learning process collaboration within the school together with other stakeholders and are committed to accountability and transparency in all undertakings.
Since he took over the school, he has introduced curriculum implementation which is aimed to achieve high levels of efficiency, by monitoring, and evaluation to provide a comfortable and conducive environment for learning and teaching.
His main objective has been to access education 99% retention 90% and completion95%.He has also been ensuring that the poor students can still access education hence reducing the dropout rate in the school
Mr.Mambili further has assisted in ensuring that all ages can access education with more emphasis being given to boy child who end up as Boda bodas and cane cutters when they drop outs.
The school has introduced per term testing policy with form three and four sitting full examination papers (K.C.S.E), formats with forms one and two doing three well-spaced exams per term marked out of 100%.
It has also embraced a vertical approach to teaching with the institution offering morning, evening and weekend remedial at departmental basis.
In 2023 Kcse results,407 out 557 students registered a direct entry to public universities.
The school is facing teacher shortage and has less infrastructure to accommodate the growing numbers and is currently involved in setting up more dormitories.
