Uasin Gishu Commemorates World Radio Day
The County Government of Uasin Gishu on Tuesday joined the World in marking World Radio Day under the
theme, A century informing, entertaining, and educating with the ethos of Radio Broadcasting.
This year’s theme encompassed the County’s recognition of radio’s profound impact on society with the main celebration being held in Kisii County.
Speaking during an interview at the County Headquarters, Chief Officer for Public Service Management Mr. Ambrose Tarus, warmly welcomed officials from various radio stations, including Sayare FM, Upendo FM, and Kass FM, to join in marking the day.
In his address, the Chief officer highlighted the invaluable role of radio in educating, informing, and entertaining the public, emphasizing its significance in fulfilling the County’s mandate of communication and branding.
“We deeply value the strong relationship we share with radio stations,” Tarus affirmed, acknowledging their unwavering dedication to serving the community across spiritual, economic, and social dimensions.
Tarus expressed gratitude for the radio stations’ longstanding commitment to disseminating information about the county’s devolved units and highlighted the accessibility of radio services at the grassroots level.
Recognizing the professionalism exhibited by Christian radio stations, Tarus encouraged all radio stations to uphold similar standards, drawing inspiration from broadcasting legends like Leonard Mambo Mbotela, known for captivating, educating, and informing audiences.
The Chief Officer reaffirmed the County’s commitment to partnering with radio stations to ensure the seamless dissemination of information to the public.
Tarus further extended his heartfelt appreciation to all radio stations for their invaluable contributions and pledged to continue the collaboration in the shared endeavour of serving the people of Uasin Gishu County, in line with the Governor’s Nguzo Kumi blueprint.
