Locals Challenged to Embrace TVET Education

County Executive Committee Member for Education Anthony Sitienei has asked locals within Uasin Gishu County to embrace technical and Vocational Education (TVETs).

Sitienei said over the years, TVETs have offered pure learning model aimed at not only transforming but also shaping lives.

Speaking at Ziwa TTI in Moi’s Bridge Ward during a sensitisation forum that brought together 27 TVETs from Rift Valley, The CECM who represented Governor Dr.Jonathan Bii Chelilim EGH, during the event said TVETs have played a key role in driving innovation in the country.

“It is the TVETs that have made sure Kenya is competitive globally in all major sectors,” the County Executive said.

Similar sentiments were shared by the Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of Kenya School of TVET Dr. Edwin Tarno.

Tarno challenged residents of Uasin Gishu to fill the available TVET institutions by enrolling their children.

“TVET institutions are not for those who failed their exams,” said Tarno.

He further challenged students who have qualified in various technical courses to take advantage of the flexible calendar of the Kenya School of TVET to be trained as instructors.

The county government of Uasin Gishu has been working on enduring vocational training whose management fall under devolved units are well equipped and ready to offer quality education to the youth.
