Cs Zacharia Njeru Meets Ukambani Region MPs Discuss Water Priority Projects and Last Mile Connectivity Maji House

Cabinet Secretary for Water Sanitation and Irrigation Mr. Zachariah Njeru, Tuesday held discussions with Ukambani region leaders of, Kitui Machakos and Makueni with issues of discussion coalescing around fast tracking of water projects in the water scarce counties.

The leaders included his counterpart, Cabinet Secretary for EAC, ASALs & Regional Development Peninah Malonza, and Principal Secretary -Devolution, Office of the Deputy President, MsTerry Mbaika.

Other issues centred on prioritization of new projects to serve unserved and underserved areas and expansion of water and sewerage connectivity through Last Mile distribution projects.

MPS present included Honourable Vincent Musyoka Kawaya (Mwala) Rachael Nyamai(Kitui South),Joshua Mbithi Mwalyo Masinga) Nimrod Mbai(Kitui South) and Mwengi Mutuse Kibwezi West.

Tuesday’s meeting was a follow up on the earlier meeting between Kenya kwanza Elected MPs and other Senior government officials from Ukambani region, hosted by President William Ruto at State House on 22nd April 2024 where discussion centred on the region’s development priorities with focus on water ,infrastructure Education and Agriculture.

Principal Secertary State Department Water and and Sanitation Mr Julius Korir, and water Secertary Eng SAO Alima participated in the discussions.
