Dr. Ekrah Ndung’u, a renowned Academician and Currently Chairperson at the Kenya National Private Colleges Association (KENAPCO) early Friday morning heeded the call by His Excellency the President Dr. Hon. William Samoei Ruto to plant trees. His Excellency made the clarion call in honor and remembrance of the victims of the flash floods in the country.
She noted:

“ As young people we are the beacon of hope in Environmental Conservation and as such we are leading from the frontline. 𝐓𝐨day we are set to 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐚𝐲
It’s not just a tree-planting event, it’s a movement!
Dr. Ekrah added,
“Climate change has undoubtedly played a role in the frequency and severity of natural disasters like the floods we’ve experienced. But in the face of adversity, there is hope. Together, we can take meaningful action to mitigate its effects and safeguard our communities for generations to come.

Planting a tree may seem like a small act, but its impact reverberates far beyond its roots. Trees symbolize resilience, growth, and hope. They are a testament to our collective strength and determination to build a better, more sustainable world, even in the face of adversity. Trees are nature’s guardians, essential in combating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, stabilizing soil, and regulating water cycles.

On this National Tree-planting Day, let us join hands in rebuilding a greener future. By participating in this initiative, you will not only contribute to healing our environment but also play a crucial role in fortifying our defenses against future floods. Together, let’s turn the tide on climate change. Let’s plant the seeds of a greener, more resilient future, one tree at a time.”
