DP Gachagua Blames Mt. Kenya Woes On President Ruto Allies From Rift Valley

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has come out guns blazing and directed his anger at a section of Rift Valley leaders who he says have been undermining him in the Mt. Kenya region.

Gachagua who was in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, in the company of various Cabinet Secretaries and Members of Parliament, said the leaders have proximity to the President and are taking advantage to begin early succession politics in his home turf.

A seemingly angered Gachagua went bare-knuckles, revealing that President William Ruto’s allies are already holding meetings in the Mt. Kenya region to craft 2032 succession politics to his disadvantage.

“The problem is a few leaders here from this region who have proximity to the President ndio wanakoroga siasa ya huko kwetu kudanganya watu eti waaanze kupanga mambo ya 2032,” he said.

The revelation from the Deputy President was preceded by remarks from Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen who was at the same event. Murkomen told the DP to ignore the politics around succession and focus on his job.

“Usiogope kupigiwa kelele, ukiona watu wanapigania kiti yako ni kwa sababu ni tamu na kila mtu ako na haja nayo. Kama ingekuwa kiti bure hakuna mtu angekuletea kelele…watu wengi wanataka kuitwa tu Your Excellency; wewe usiogope, focus,” Murkomen said.

Gachagua said President Ruto’s allies working against him are now proud and warned them to look back on how the Mt. Kenya region supported President Ruto’s presidential bid.

“The few people here wamefura wamekuwa na kiburi nyingi, wanafikiria ati sasa wamefika wanaweza kuja huko eti wapange viongozi wa mlima, ata sisi hatutakuja kuwapangia siasa yenu, lazima tuheshimiane,” he added.

The DP further told the unnamed Rift Valley leaders to keep off the Central region politics, saying the country should not be subjected to early politicking.

“Msijaribu kutupangia siasa ya mlima Kenya na uongozi wa mlima Kenya. Pangeni siasa zenu na uongozi wenu. Siku William Ruto atastaafu after 10 years, hatutaingililia vile mnataka kupanga, mtajipangia wenyewe. Siasa ya huko kwetu hamuwezani nayo, ni ngumu sana,” Gachagua noted.

Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago, his Nandi counterpart Samson Cherargei, MPs led by Musa Sirma of Eldama Ravine, and Johana Ng’eno of Emurua Dikir assured him of support regardless of criticism meted upon him.

“Wanakuja huko na kushinda wakiita huko na huku, oh, ati wacha tukutembeze, eti sisi tutakutaftia kura ya Wakalenjin…Kwani hii kura ya Wakalenjin iko kwa soko? Let us be careful, hii serikali tulipata na shida, majonzi na taabu! For the support we gave Ruto, tupatieni heshima kidogo,” added the DP.
