Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich Welcomes Pepea Athletics Beneficiary to Harding University

In a momentous occasion, Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich proudly received Faith Maiyo, a distinguished beneficiary of the Pepea Athletics Programme, who has embarked on her academic journey at Harding University in the United States. Faith, pursuing a degree in Nursing, represents the programme’s first cohort to secure a full athletics scholarship at this esteemed institution.

Faith Maiyo, a specialist in the 3,000 meters, achieved an impressive time of 10 minutes and 17 seconds, securing her scholarship and demonstrating the exceptional talent nurtured by the Pepea Athletics Programme. Her dedication and performance serve as an inspiration to many young athletes in the region.

Governor Rotich emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating, “Faith’s achievement is a testament to the potential within our youth. The Pepea Athletics Programme is dedicated to providing opportunities for our talented athletes to excel both academically and in sports on a global stage.”

In addition to celebrating Faith’s success, Governor Rotich also highlighted the recent departure of four students to Thompson Rivers University and Fanshawe College in Canada. These students will join five others who have already commenced their studies, further illustrating the growing impact of the Pepea Athletics Programme.

Governor Rotich took the opportunity to encourage all form four graduates to diligently prepare for the upcoming full athletic scholarship trials in August. “This is a chance for our youth to secure a brighter future through sports and education.
