In a recent announcement, former Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale expressed his gratitude and readiness to embrace his new role as the Minister for Environment and Climate Change. President William Ruto’s decision to reassign Duale to this critical position was formally communicated through a letter read by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.

In his response, Duale affirmed his commitment to tackling environmental issues and addressing the challenges posed by climate change. He emphasized the importance of sustainable environmental management and pledged to focus on key areas such as reforestation and conservation.

“I look forward to serving in my new portfolio and ensuring that we prioritize sustainable environmental management, combat climate change, and promote reforestation and conservation efforts,” Duale stated in a written message.

Duale viewed the appointment as a significant opportunity and expressed his gratitude to God for this new beginning. He reflected on the Quranic verse, “And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows, but you do not know.” (Quran 2:216), to underscore his belief in the divine wisdom behind life’s changes.

As he steps into his new role, Duale is expected to bring fresh perspectives and a dedicated approach to environmental stewardship, aligning with the government’s broader goals for environmental sustainability.
