University Task Force Finalizes Report, Awaits Governor’s Approval
The Trans Nzoia County University Task Force has successfully concluded its mandate and is poised to submit its comprehensive report to Governor George Natembeya in the coming weeks.
Speaking on Saturday at a press briefing in Kitale, Dr. Helen Yego, the Vice Chairperson of the Task Force, revealed that the report incorporates the valuable insights of residents from all corners of the county, including those living abroad. Additionally, the Task Force engaged with experts and stakeholders in the education sector to ensure a well-rounded and informed document.
“We have completed the preparation of the report and are eagerly awaiting the day when we can present it to Governor Natembeya,” Dr. Yego stated.
Dr. David Wafula Lwangale, a member of the Task Force, echoed Yego’s sentiments, emphasizing the team’s meticulous approach to finalizing the report and ensuring that all necessary documentation is in place.
The Task Force commended the residents of Trans Nzoia County for their active participation and contributions, which played a pivotal role in the successful completion of the report.
Kennedy Etyang, the Chief Officer for Education, praised the Task Force for their dedication and perseverance in the face of numerous challenges. He assured the public that the Natembeya administration is committed to implementing the recommendations of the report promptly upon its submission.
Looking ahead, Etyang highlighted the county’s readiness to embark on the second phase of the initiative, which includes the establishment of a university in Trans Nzoia. He emphasized the long-overdue need for such an institution and expressed the administration’s unwavering support for its realization.
“A university will significantly boost education standards in the county and create numerous opportunities for our local population,” Etyang remarked.
The Task Force comprises a distinguished group of individuals, including Professor Masibo Lumala, Professor Battan Khaemba, Professor Caleb Elung’ata, Dr. Helen Yego (Vice-Chairperson), Dr. David Wafula Lwangale, youth representative Hosea Sismat Chemche, Dr. Julie Magomere, Professor Bulitia, Julius Kivase, Eliud Wakasiaka Mwichabe (Secretary), and Alfred Mang’oli Namwitako.
