The Ministry of Sports, Culture, and Heritage has reiterated its commitment to promoting physical activity as a means of fostering a healthier and happier society. Speaking during the annual sports day organized by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Nairobi Branch, a Ministry representative emphasized the importance of integrating health, wellness, and physical activity.

The representative, who joined the LSK members for the day’s activities, expressed excitement about the event and highlighted the need for such engagements to encourage more Kenyans to adopt active lifestyles. Among those present were LSK President Faith Odhiambo and Nairobi Branch Chair Eric Kivuva, both of whom the Ministry representative noted had been their students in the past.

“I had great fun playing and interacting with members today. Physical activity is vital for our overall well-being, and as a Ministry, we’re keen on promoting initiatives that encourage a healthier and more active society,” they remarked.

In addition to promoting physical fitness, the representative took the opportunity to invite members of the LSK Nairobi Branch to contribute to ongoing legal reforms aimed at revamping sports laws in Kenya. These reforms seek to address emerging issues within the sports sector, including gender-based violence, doping, and intellectual property rights.

“As a global sports powerhouse, it’s crucial that we have a robust legal framework that addresses the challenges faced by athletes and the sports community. I encourage you all to provide your input as we work to update our laws and ensure they reflect the evolving nature of the sports industry,” they said.

The Ministry aims to strengthen Kenya’s position as a leader in the global sports arena while safeguarding the rights and welfare of its athletes. The LSK Nairobi Branch sports day served as an excellent platform for reinforcing the importance of physical activity and discussing key legal issues facing the sports sector.

The event, filled with camaraderie and sportsmanship, drew participation from legal professionals, providing a unique blend of fitness and fun while fostering discussions on critical policy reforms.
