Kirinyaga County Assembly Speaker Leads Community Support for Elderly in Kariti Ward

In a heartfelt initiative ahead of the United Nations International Day of Older Persons on October 1, Kirinyaga County Assembly Speaker Muteti Murimi spearheaded a community support event in Kariti Ward. Joined by Mr. Stanley Kamau, CEO of Ahadi Trust Kenya, the event provided essential foodstuffs and blankets to elderly and widowed residents, underscoring the importance of caring for the older generation.

During the distribution, Speaker Murimi expressed his appreciation for the joy visible on the faces of the recipients. “Today’s efforts reaffirm our commitment to honoring and supporting our elderly,” he stated, emphasizing the community’s duty to uplift its vulnerable members.

The initiative garnered support from local leaders, including MCAs from Ndia Constituency, dedicated volunteers, and generous donors, highlighting the power of collective action in addressing the needs of those most in need.

Murimi reiterated the importance of community collaboration, saying, “Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our people.” The event served as a poignant reminder of the ongoing need to recognize and support the valuable contributions of older citizens to society, reinforcing the community’s commitment to caring for its elders.
