Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Urges Residents to Register for Universal Health Coverage During SHA Roll-Out

Uasin Gishu County Governor Jonathan Bii has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the successful implementation of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program, during the official roll-out of the Social Health Authority (SHA). The event was graced by the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa.

Speaking at the event, Governor Bii emphasized that the county has taken significant steps to enhance healthcare services for its residents. “Our county is fully committed to the goals of the UHC program. We have bolstered our healthcare infrastructure, equipped our facilities with essential resources, and enhanced the skills of our healthcare workers to ensure they are fully prepared to deliver on this transformative agenda,” said Governor Bii.

He also urged residents to register for the UHC program by dialing *147# to access the various levels of care provided through the initiative. “I call on all our people to take advantage of this vital opportunity. UHC will ensure that every resident, regardless of their economic status, can access quality healthcare services.”

Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa lauded Uasin Gishu County’s efforts to advance healthcare access and expressed optimism that the UHC program would bring transformative changes across Kenya. The SHA roll-out marks a significant milestone in achieving universal health access for all citizens.
