In a significant step towards improving living conditions in informal settlements, Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Alice Wahome, recently toured several key projects under the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project Phase II (KISIP II). The initiative aims to enhance infrastructure and provide sustainable solutions for communities in Kipkaren, Mwanzo, and Langas.

Accompanied by Governor H.E. Hon. Jonathan Bii and local MCAs, including Hon. Peter Muya (Langas), Hon. Amos Kiptanui (Racecourse), Hon. Richard Kering (Ngeria), Hon. David Letting (Kipkenyo), Hon. Gilbert Langat (Kiplombe), and Hon. Kimani Wanjohi (Huruma Ward), CS Wahome assessed ongoing developments in the construction of roads, footpaths, and drainage systems.

During her visit, CS Wahome emphasized the government’s commitment to slum upgrading and prevention, stating, “KISIP II is not just about infrastructure; it’s about transforming lives and creating a healthier, more sustainable environment for our communities.”

The projects aim to address the pressing challenges faced by residents in these informal settlements, including poor drainage and inadequate road access. Local leaders voiced their support, highlighting the positive impact these developments will have on residents’ daily lives.

Governor Bii expressed gratitude for the government’s investment in Uasin Gishu, noting, “This initiative is crucial for the growth of our county and will greatly enhance the quality of life for our people.”

As KISIP II progresses, the government remains focused on collaborative efforts with local authorities to ensure that these projects meet the needs of the communities they serve.
