Uasin Gishu County’s groundbreaking school milk program has caught the attention of international leaders, with a delegation from Morocco arriving today to benchmark the initiative. Led by Mr. Hisham Alaoui, the team is exploring how the county has successfully implemented the program across all 673 early childhood education centers, improving the health, retention, and academic performance of thousands of learners.

The initiative, launched two years ago under the leadership of Governor Jonathan Bii, has been hailed as a model for other regions looking to enhance early childhood education through nutritional support. “We introduced this program to ensure every child receives the nourishment they need to stay in school and perform well academically,” Governor Bii said during a press briefing. “The results have been remarkable, with a significant reduction in student dropouts and an improvement in overall health.”

Mr. Alaoui’s team is focusing on the logistics, management, and sustainability strategies behind the success of the program, which has become a cornerstone of Governor Bii’s education reforms. “We are impressed by how well-organized this initiative is, from milk production to distribution,” Mr. Alaoui remarked. “Our goal is to replicate this model back in Morocco.”

Also present during the visit were officials from the Dairy Board and Tetra Pak, whose collaboration has been vital in ensuring the program’s sustainability. Governor Bii expressed his gratitude to these partners, noting that their expertise in packaging and distribution has helped maintain the program’s efficiency.

As the delegation concludes its tour, discussions are underway about future collaborations between Uasin Gishu and Morocco in areas of education and agricultural innovation.

“This visit is a testament to the progress we’ve made and the potential for our programs to inspire others globally,” Governor Bii said.
