Innovators Urged to Prioritize Environmental Sustainability at 13th Annual International Conference
The 13th Annual International Conference, held at the Eldoret National Polytechnic, concluded today with a strong call for researchers and innovators to prioritize environmental sustainability in their projects. Keynote speakers emphasized the importance of developing innovations that align with sustainability principles.
Dr. Cicilia Rollence from The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology in Tanzania highlighted the urgent need for innovators to consider environmental, social, and governance factors in their work. “We are living in a world where sustainability matters. If you innovate blindly without considering these aspects, you are getting nowhere,” Dr. Cicilia stated, urging attendees to ensure their innovations positively impact society.
During her address, Dr. Cicilia also stressed the importance of engaging with local communities throughout the innovation process. “It’s crucial to involve community members from the beginning,” she advised. “Failing to consider their needs can lead to rejection of the product.” She emphasized that blending technical and traditional skills can significantly enhance innovation success.
The conference provided a platform for thought leaders and innovators to discuss the intersection of technology and sustainability, inspiring a new generation of researchers to prioritize environmentally conscious practices in their work.
