Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has openly criticized prominent Western Kenya leaders Moses Wetang’ula and Musalia Mudavadi, asserting that they have prioritized personal interests over the needs of the community.

Speaking to residents, Natembeya emphasized the need for accountability and urged citizens to demand better from their leaders.

“If you tell me to respect Wetang’ula and Mudavadi, they have to earn my respect,” Natembeya stated. He highlighted the pressing issues affecting the region, including infrastructure, water supply, and educational bursaries, saying, “We are focused on projects that matter to our people, not political titles.”

Natembeya pointedly remarked that positions such as the Speaker of the National Assembly serve personal agendas, stating, “Kiti ya speaker is for you and your family. Sisi tunaangalia miradi ya barabara, maji, bursary.” He encouraged the people of Trans Nzoia to prioritize the welfare of their families when casting their votes, urging them to consider the future of their children.

“Mambo ya kubadilisha the status of our lives is in our hands. This time, vote for yourself. Angalia maisha ya watoto wako,” he said, rallying support for a shift towards more community-focused leadership.

Natembeya’s comments reflect growing discontent among local residents regarding the performance of established leaders and a desire for representatives who genuinely advocate for their constituents’ needs.
