University of Eldoret students experienced an afternoon filled with inspiration and wisdom as they engaged with U.S. Ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman, and renowned Kenyan marathoner, Dr. Eliud Kipchoge, in a highly anticipated campus visit.
Ambassador Whitman shared her insights on a variety of topics, ranging from U.S. foreign policy, political dynamics, and global financial markets, to the green economy, creative industries, and the role of Gen Z in shaping Kenya and the world. She answered students’ questions thoughtfully, shedding light on issues like U.S. funding in developing nations and the importance of innovation in today’s interconnected world. The lively session was moderated by University of Eldoret Students Organization (UESO) President, Hon. Kipkorir Elvis Barseen.
Following Ambassador Whitman, Dr. Eliud Kipchoge addressed the students, encouraging them to pursue their dreams with focus, determination, and commitment. Emphasizing character, curiosity, and the importance of reading beyond their academic programs, Kipchoge spoke about the values that have guided him through his iconic athletic career. He also urged students to avoid distractions such as alcohol and other vices, warning of the impact they could have on one’s ambitions. “I will be back,” Kipchoge promised as he concluded his speech, leaving a lasting impression on the students.
