Acting IG Kanja Calls for Patience Amid Kware Discovery Investigation
In recent days, Nairobi has been rocked by a grim discovery: bodies of Kenyans found in sacks and discarded in quarries in the Mukuru Kwa Njenga area. Today, Acting Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja addressed the nation, urging calm as investigations into the case continue.
Speaking at Jogoo House in Nairobi during a press briefing, Kanja extended his condolences to the families affected by this tragedy and appealed to the public to refrain from speculation. “Let us remember that these were lives lost, and they have families and loved ones. We therefore appeal to the public to avoid speculations and instead give room for the investigation,” said Kanja.
The Acting IG emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public and the investigation team to ensure that those responsible for these heinous crimes are brought to justice. He urged Kenyans to come forward with any information that might assist in the ongoing investigation. “My request is that we allow the teams to carry out the investigation, and they will provide a concrete report on all those involved,” Kanja stated.
This press briefing marked Kanja’s first public address since his appointment following the resignation of former IG Japhet Koome, who stepped down amid widespread criticism over police brutality.
