Anne Njeri Njoroge Fails to Appear Before the Energy Committee Over 17B Oil Importation Saga Scrutiny
Anne Njeri Njoroge failed to appear before the National Assembly Committee on Energy for scrutiny over the 17B oil importation.
In a letter to the National Assembly, Ms Njeri through her lawyer, Diro Advocates LLP explained that she was unwell.
“It’s with humble regret that our client Ms. Anne Njeri Njoroge (Ann’s Import and Exports Enterprises Limited) will not be able to make it for the investigation to meet the Departmental Committee on Energy regarding the dispute as she is indisposed and immobile,” the letter read in part.
She was expected to apprise the Committee regarding the ownership documents of the consignment, the country of origin, intended destination of the oil amongst other concerns.
Speaking during the meeting, Hon. Vincent Musyoka, the Committee’s chairperson expressed displeasure with the excuse given to the Committee.
“We don’t know what exactly happened. In the Committee, you are first invited to appear and if excuses continue, then you are compelled,” said Hon. Musyoka.
The Committee agreed to issue summons to Ms Anne Njeri Njoroge together with her lawyer as well as the Cabinet Secretaries for Energy, National Treasury & Economic Planning and any other person that would have been mentioned in the investigation.
