Bayer East Africa Hands Over Hand washing Facilities To MTRH
Bayer East Africa has handed over a hand washing point to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in a move to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Speaking to the press John Mwangi, a representative from Bayer East Africa said the move is aimed at reducing the number of respiratory and diarrhoea cases.
“It gives me great pleasure today to be here to witness this very important occasion of the handing over of these hand washing stations that have been provided here by the partnership between MTRH, KWAHO, and Bayer.” Said Mr. John Mwangi, a representative from Bayer East Africa.
“The move is aimed at reducing the number of respiratory and diarrhea cases and also prevent the spread of coronavirus which is in its 6th face within the region and country at large,” he said.
He said the latest statistics show that proper hand washing practices with water and soap lead to 50% reduction in diarrhoea diseases and up to 16% in respiratory diseases which include coronavirus.
He says the project matches the vision of the company which is; health for all and hunger for none.
Having participated and partnered with other institutions in government like KNH before the covid pandemic, Bayer East Africa shifted their focus to MTRH where it serves up to 22 counties in the Western part of the country.
“This is not the first one we are doing, we have participated and partnered with other institutions in government because we do believe that this job of making sure we promote health practices is not only a job for the government but also a job for every other responsible organization we have. This will be the second public institution because we have already done at Kenyatta National Hospital before the Covid Pandemic.” Remarked John Mwangi adding that it costS them $40 OOO US dollars.
