Bishop Kimengich Calls For Political Goodwill to End Fights in Kerio Valley
Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop Bishop Dominic Kimengich has condemned insecurity being witnessed in most parts of the Kerio Valley.
Speaking to the press Bishop Kimengich urged the government and all security personnel involved to ensure there is peace in the region.
“We all are terrified due to the rising insecurity in the volatile Kerio Valley. We can’t understand why we still see people dying despite the heavy presence of our security officers in those areas. Why there is no peace in the valley yet our officers have been well equipped to ensure there is peace.” said Bishop Dominic Kimengich Catholic Diocese of Eldoret.
Bishop Kimengich called upon the political class to have the will to ensure there is a long-lasting solution to peaceful coexistence in the valley.
“As we saw the deployments made to the valley by the internal security docket, we thought this would bring peace and we plead with the government to follow those bandits stealing livestock while murdering people in the process. I also call upon the political class to sit down and find a way to peaceful coexistence because nobody from outside will come to solve our issues other than us.” Added the bishop.
Urging the opposition to follow the rule of law and ensure there is peace in this country, the reverend called on everyone to ensure there is peace for the prosperity of our nation.
“We as Kenyans went and cast our votes and there were those who got elected to serve the people of this country. These issues of back and forth will not help this country but we should all look ahead and have a peaceful nation because without peace there cannot be economic development. We are lovers of peace and followers of the rule of law because this ace went up to the Supreme Court and now we should forge ahead to help this country.
