The last few years has seen the growth of the bodaboda industry which feeds hundreds of thousands of youth in this country and a big propeller of the country’s economy.

The first most important thing is to ensure that we have all our populace licensed because the rest of motorists are also at risk if we have a number of road users who are not quite keen on ensuring other road users’ safety.
The driving license as it as a bare minimum for a driver ought to be for any motorist. The country has come from far to a point that even trailer drivers these days are cautioned about carrying any extra passenger.

There has been an increase in terms of complaints with regards to how insecurity has been fueled by bodaboda operators. Moreover, our young people are not thinking on long term investments or plans to make progress in life but the only focus is to get a “nduthi”.

There is a generation being lost under silence. The same generation that is being depended to help other generations in the near future are teaching our ‘third world country-Kenya’ to be lazy and look for Kshs. 50/100 to avoid small distance and the hustle of walking. Disaster in waiting. No wonder we complain why there is increase in lifestyle diseases amongst middle class.
The way forward ought to be firm regulation as happens in other fields such as aviation, railway, various motorists and now to this growing industry or we swallow that and feel the pinch.
