Governor, Senator, Member of Parliament, Women Representative and Member of County Assembly aspirants from Busia County have resisted zoning plans by Azimio La Umoja- One Kenya in the county that will effectively lock them out of the race in favour of ODM candidates.

Led by Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi, the aspirants told the press after a meeting at Farmview Hotel in Busia Town that they will work together to ensure their Presidential flag bearer the Rt Hon Raila Odinga becomes Kenya’s fifth President after the August 9th, 2022 general elections.

Those who attended the meeting included H.E Mulomi, Evalyne Ikwii Omasaja (Woman Representative asspirant), MP aspirants Dr Isaac Omeri (Nambale), John Makokha (Matayos), Lawi Mamai (Teso North) and 30 MCAs led by Malaba Central aspirant, Simon Oruchum.

The Deputy Governor said although the party leader Hon Wafula Wamunyinyi has put the record straight that there will be no zoning in Busia, they need clarification from Azimio secretariat to remove anxiety among the DAP-K aspirants in the county.

” Our common goal is to crisscross the county to solicit votes for the Rt Hon Raila to ensure he takes over the mantle of leadership from President Uhuru Kenyatta,” he said, telling the aspirants to shun the zoning rumour.

The DG disclosed that the meeting also deliberated on several issues including working together to support the 5th and to work with other affiliate parties to ensure the fulfilment of their ambitions.
” We also resolved to team up with the secretariate to plan for the Rt Hon Raila’s planned visit to the county and to work together in popularizing is candidature. ” he said.

Ms Ikwii Omasaja said it’s high time they focused on getting votes for BABA noting that squabbles will derail their resolve to ensure podium finish for their presidential flag bearer.

Mr Wangalwa said sibling rivalry promotes democracy, thus the need to shun any plans for zoning in the county aimed at locking out DAP-K candidates at the expense of those contesting on ODM ticket.
” We should not work with panic in the democratic space the Rt Hon Raila fought for. We are all in Azimio family, thus the need to embrace democracy,” he said.

Mr Oruchum welcomed their presidential candidate to tour Busia as BABA but not as ODM party leader to endorse ODM aspirants but allow voters to decide their preferred candidates at the August polls.
