BUSIA MCAs GO ON A TWO-MONTH RECESS

Busia County Assembly has adjourned its plenary sittings to allow members proceed on a two-month recess starting December 2, 2021 to February 8, 2022.

The Leader of Majority, Hon. Kassaman Ekesa who moved the adjournment motion that was seconded by Minority Leader, Hon Felix Omanyi said the 5th session of the second assembly that started on 10th February, 2021 ended on Thursday with the 6th session set to commence on 9th February, 2022.

Hon Ekesa applauded the members for the spirit they displayed during the 5th session and wished them God’s blessings during the festive season and the new year.

Speaker Hon. Bernard Wamalwa said it’s only plenary sessions which have been put on hold, noting that committee meetings and special sittings will be convened.

” This year was faced with many challenges including Covid-19 and deteriorating economy but through the grace of the Lord saw the assembly complete its calendar,” he said.

The Speaker said the sixth session will be marathon with the assembly expected to dispense the budget by 30th March, 2021, urging members to keep friendship and not allow politics to divide them.

Deputy Speaker Hon Lawrence Okaale urged members to take advantage of the long recesss to make vibrant steps in overseeing projects in their wards.
