Buzeki Picks Reuben Kipkosgei as Running Mate in Uasin Gishu Gubernatorial Race

Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop alias Buzeki has picked Reuben Kipkosgei Chepses Arap Koech as his running mate in the August 9 General Election.

Kipkosgei was born in Kebulonik Nandi county and currently lives in Uasin Gishu county, Turbo sub-county, Kapsaos/ Kamagut ward.

He has an MBA (Finance and Strategic Management) from The Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA), BBM (Accounting Option) from Moi University, HND Entrepreneurship from KNEC, and a Diploma in Management from Kenya Institute of Management.

His PhD thesis is on Public Financial Management Practices and Operational Performance of Selected County Governments in Kenya. His emphasis is on budgeting, reporting, financial controls, and financial planning.

“He rose from a classroom teacher, headteacher and a school manager for more than 17 years at Basic Education level to a part-time lecturer at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT),” Buzeki said while unveiling him.

The running mate currently works as Education Secretary and Property and Investment Coordinator at the Anglican Church of Kenya, Eldoret Diocese.

“He brings sound experience in corporate management from both public and private sectors. In addition, Arap Koech is among the co-founders of St Andrews Soy Academy. This academic institution is among the first private schools in Uasin Gishu county that excelled in performance,” Buzeki explained.
The gubernatorial aspirant indicated that his running mate has expansive knowledge of education and understands the relationship between the government agencies on education and other stakeholders in the sector.

“Dealing with property and investment matters, he has a wealth of experience on land policies and investment. In addition, he understands the challenges and gaps surrounding land policies and administration on national and county governments,” explained Buzeki.

On his part, Kipkosgei said that with these synopses of his profile, he hopes to use his expansive knowledge and experience in both the public and private sectors to solve managerial challenges facing the county.

“I will support the governor and the entire working team through a coactive approach to identify the right priorities for Uasin Gishu county,” said Kipkosgei, who believes and advocates for objectivity, public participation, transparency, accountability and civic responsibility.

“These are among the requisite personal attributes of a focused and sound leader,” he added.
Buzeki, an Independent candidate, exuded confidence in his deputy, saying that he would stand tall to see that their manifesto presented to the electorate remains the subject of focus in his entire social contract period.
