Buzeki’s Campaign Vehicle Stoned in Eldoret Town, Driver Hospitalised
Members of Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki campaign team narrowly escaped death after a vehicle they were travelling in came under attack in Eldoret town.
Trouble started when the team led by Stephen Sorobit (Kesses Coordinator) and Barnabas Bwalei (Director of Campaigns) was driving through the town’s Central Business District (CBD).
The vehicle, a Toyota Prado, was pelted with stones as it drove around the notorious Silver Line area, leaving the driver with injuries on his shoulder after the mirrors were shattered
“It’s sad night for peaceful electioneering in our County. The ugly head of goonism has re-emerged. This evening, our vehicle that was carrying our campaign Director and Kesses Coordinator was stoned at Silverline area,” Buzeki posted on his official Facebook page.
He went on:
“The driver was hurt, and the vehicle was damaged. We have recorded the statement at Eldoret Police station for investigation to be conducted.2
The independent gubernatorial candidate called upon political actors and his competitors to embrace peace and accommodate divergent opinions.
“Elections are not about oozing blood, but it’s about winning votes through progressive ideas. Primitive avenues of attaining political power should be condemned in the strongest terms possible,” he added.
He also promised to issue a press statement on the incident today.
Buzeki spent the better part of the day in Soy sub-county where he popularised his Uongozi Ni Sera agenda to the residents of Kamwyoya and Kipsomba.
