Community Unites for Joint Prayer and Thanksgiving Service in Machakos
The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) hosted the annual Joint Prayer and Thanksgiving Service for the Uniformed Disciplined Services and their families at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cathedral, marking a day of unity and gratitude among communities.
Under the leadership of Dr. Erustus Kanga, Director General and CEO of KWS, the event emphasized the theme “God strengthens and keeps me secure,” inspired by Psalms 18:33. The day began with a tree planting exercise, reinforcing the commitment to environmental conservation, followed by a procession and a Mass led by Monsignor Peter Kimani.
Her Excellency Wavinya Ndeti, Governor of Machakos County, attended the service, alongside Senior Assistant Director Celina Mwangangi, who represented the Director of Wildlife Security. They were joined by other officials from the National Organizing Committee and stakeholders from the Southern Conservation Area, including Senior Assistant Director Joseph Dadacha.
The celebration not only honored the dedication of uniformed services but also fostered community spirit, culminating in a cake-cutting ceremony that symbolized unity. This annual gathering, supported by the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops, continues to strengthen bonds within the community and recognizes the sacrifices of those serving in disciplined services.
