Hon. Amos Kiptanui chair committee for Housing and Urban Development said that the prosperity and progress of the County is key and hence there is a need for the legislative arm of the Government to be part of supporting the initiatives by the executive arm by providing enabling legislative policies and guidelines in project execution.

“As a committee, we will support the Department in moving its agenda for the people of Uasin Gishu. We will also ensure that we become the eye to give checks and controls whilst the Department delivers the projects. We will pass laws and regulations that will enable the Department to deliver. These among them, approvals of land use and physical plans for trading centres to give way for residents to get their land titles, and policies on land management,” said Hon. Kiptanui.

In his remarks, Mr. Sitienei appreciated the County assembly for ensuring that projects are allocated enough resources to ensure the completion of identified projects.

“Today we have managed to discuss the way forward on issues concerning land management, valuation rolls preparations, policy on Housing management, enhancement of security in the town and ways to improve beautification in the town area. With the County Assembly Committee on board, we are going to deliver the projects smoothly and on timeliness as required by law”, said Mr. Sitienei

Hon. Sarah Malel of Kimumu ward noted that the County assembly had passed the policy making it mandatory for owners of premises in CBD to paint their premises and this needed urgent follow-up by the executive.
