County government of Trans -Nzoia Signs MOU with MESPT to implement the 5 years Green Employment in Agriculture Programme (GEAP)
The county government of Trans -Nzoia County and MESPT have signed a memorandum of understanding on the modalities to implement the 5 years Green Employment in Agriculture Programme (GEAP), 2021- 2025 funded by DANIDA.
Speaking after the signing MOU Trans -Nzoia County Governor Patrick Khaemba and MESPT CEO Ms. Rebecca Amukhoye said MESPT will invest in targeted micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Trans Nzoia County by supporting Export vegetables, avocado and indigenous chicken value chains.
Governor Khaemba said the engagement is expected to contribute towards an accelerated decent employment creation in targeted MSMEs and improved competitiveness of the selected value chains in agriculture, consequently, transforming the economy towards greener and more inclusive growth.
The Governor was impressed with the ongoing development work that MESPT has been doing noting that he truly appreciates the partnership.
Khaemba reiterated that he will continue to offer support and the political good will is unwavering.
The Deputy governor Dr Tarus noted that the County remains committed in supporting the agriculture sector within the county.
The signing was witnessed by the County Deputy Governor Hon. Dr. Stanley Kenei Tarus,Trans-Nzoia County Agriculture Chief officer Robert Musikoyo, MESPT Board of Trustees Mr. Noah Meely (chairman), Ms. Irene Gathinji (vice chairperson) Mr. Mogens Strunge (member) and Thomas Were (member).
