COUNTY OFFICERS RESIGN TO VIE FOR ELECTIVE POSITIONS

Eleven County Government of Kakamega officers complied with the deadline set by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) requiring civil servants seeking elective positions to vacate office by February 9th, 2022.

Three of these servants will be vying as Members of Parliament (MP) while seven as Members of County Assembly (MCA). One officer, CPA John Imbogo, is yet to announce publicly his next move.

Immediate former CECM for Social Services, Sports, Youth, Women Empowerment and Culture Mr. Kassim Were has entered the race to succeed Hon. Benjamin Washiali as Mumias East MP in the August polls as Chief Officers Nabii Nabwera and Jeremiah Namunyu also leave the County Government to seek the mandate from the residents of Lugari and Matungu Sub-Counties respectively to represent them in the August House.

Hon. Robert Kundu Makhanu the outgoing CECM for Lands, Housing, Urban Areas and Physical Planning will be vying as an MCA of Kongoni Ward as former Chief Officer Mr. Palapala Muteshi contests as an MCA in Idakho South Ward. Others are Hon. Herbert Sore Makatiani (Fmr Personal Assistant to H.E the Governor), Hon. Edward Indimuli (Fmr County Ombudsman) and Mr. Patrick Ongaya the former Communication’s Officer for the OparanyaCare Programme. The three will be vying as MCAs’ in Isukha West, West Kabras and Idakho South wards respectively.

The youthful duo of Livingstone Eshitika (Fmr Personal Assistant to CECM Education) and Sakaya Shitsimi (Fmr Finance & ICT Administrator) have also resigned and will be seeking the nod of Marenyo-Shianda Ward and Shirugu-Mugai residents respectively to represent them at the County Assembly of Kakamega.
