County Sponsors Over 60 Farmers to Acquire New Agricultural Knowledge
The County Government of Uasin Gishu, through the Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Project (KCSAP) on Monday flagged off over 60 farmers sponsored for a field trip to Nyeri County.
Speaking while leading the exercise, County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, Mr Edward Sawe, asked beneficiaries to take advantage of the trip to learn new ways that will help them move agriculture forward in the County.
According to Sawe, the programme is a deliberate move by Governor Jonathan Bii’s administration to facilitate opportunities for farmers to share their knowledge, and experiences, sharpen their skills and first-hand learning about new agricultural technologies.
On his part, Agriculture Chief Officer, Mr Elphas Kesio, told farmers that the department is working with MCAs to support farmers and their households in programs aimed at creating jobs, wealth, and economic growth along the supply chain a sentiment echoed by Member of County Assembly for Kipkenyo Ward, David Leting.
Directors Philip Biama (Veterinary), Reuben Seroney (Agriculture), and KCSAP Projects Coordinator, Cosmas Lang’at, were among those present during the exercise.
