CS Kuria: Farmers Enumeration Will Boost production

Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture Mr Edwards Sawe hosted Cabinet Secretary for Trade, Investment and Industry, Moses Kuria during Agribusiness Trade Fair 2023 at University of Eldoret in Moiben Sub County.

During his speech, CS Kuria acknowledged the efforts made in facilitating the registration of farmers, which helps in creating a database to better understand the needs and challenges faced by the farming community.

According to Kuria, information will be used by government to effectively implement policies and programs that cater to the specific requirements of the farmers.
CS Kuria highlighted the distribution of fertilizers as another crucial aspect of Governor Bii’s initiative as fertilizers play a vital role in increasing agricultural productivity and ensuring food security.

Kuria said that the government is committed towards boosting agricultural output and reducing dependency on food imports.
The event aimed to bring together farmers, Agribusinesses, and other stakeholders to showcase the progress made in the sector and discuss future strategies for growth.

Agriculture County Executive Edward Sawe thanked University of Eldoret Vice Chancellor Mr. Thomas Cheruiyot for Partnering with the County to enhance the agricultural sector.

He emphasized the importance of such partnerships in driving sustainable development in the agricultural sector.
Furthermore, CECM called on farmers in the County to join cooperatives and actively participate in the ongoing farmers registration exercise undertaken by the county through the support of National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP).

Livestock chief Officer Mr Nixon Cheplong, Directors Dr. Philip Biama, (Veterinary) Reuben Seroney (Agriculture) Abraham Kiptanui (Livestock) attended the event.
