DAIRY FARMING TO TAKE A TURN IN UASIN GISHU UNDER BUZEKI’s ADMINISTRATION
Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant on an Independent ticket Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop has promised to revive the dairy sector in the area should he be elected the next governor through the August 9 polls.
Buzeki who took his campaigns to Kesses constituency on Wednesday, May 18 observed that the dairy sector in Uasin Gishu deserves a facelift.
The governor aspirant taking a second stab at the coveted seat narrated to residents of Ndungulu, Matharu and Chagayia how he used to compete with fellow farmers from Kiambu county when he ran Molo Milk.
“I used to compete with other dairy farmers in Githunguri, Kiambu county and defeat them. This is the kind of competition I am bringing to Uasin Gishu,” Buzeki explained.
The politician who received a warm reception in the constituency said that he would put up a milk cooling plant once he ascends to power.
“I want us to put up a dairy industry that will be absorbing 300,000 litres of milk from our farmers daily,” he said.
He went on:
“And since you will have the cattle and water and my government will be buying the milk, we shall have enough money to improve our livelihoods.”
Buzeki said the milk will be preserved in coolers.
“My administration will also automate the whole process of payment in a way that farmers will be able to get affordable farm produce from cooperative societies from their payments,” he explained.
He also pledged to initiate new projects that will create employment opportunities to the residents.
“I want to urge our youths who are professional drivers to start renewing their driving licences. Those without should enrol in driving schools because you are the people who will be ferrying our milk products to different places including neighboring countries like South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC),” Buzeki explained.
