Moiben Member of Parliament Prof. Phyllis Bartoo has urged Governor Jonathan Bii to deal with those involved in the sale and uptake of illegal liquor.

He says this will help to reduce the sale and intake of illegal liquor.

“Let’s conduct illicit brew and drug regulation to help our youths, and even if need be the sources available should be shut down because they take our people in the wrong direction,” said Bartoo during the Madaraka day celebration in Ainabtich primary school.

She further revealed that Eldoret town will soon get city status.

“Due to the growth of the economy in the county, before the end of the year we will come and inaugurate this place into a city and as we increase our agricultural production we will be supplying our farm products,” Bartoo added.

This comes a week after the Uasin Gishu County Assembly approved the Ad Hoc Committee report on the conferment of Eldoret to City status.

Bartoo further proposed the construction of a slaughterhouse in the Moiben constituency to help reduce the distance traveled by the animals to the town.

“Our people are traveling from interior parts of our county as early as 4. A.M in the morning so that they can reach the slaughterhouse which is far away from them,” she added.

Bartoo echoed the sentiments by the Kimumu Ward MCA who is also the deputy speaker of the county assembly to construct the Sewer line, which will create a good environment for the residents.

In addition, she noted that there has been an increase in ECDE attendance in most schools after the launch of the Uasin Gishu milk for all ECDE children, and said that they will soon start a tree-planting event for all the children who have joined the ECDE.
