Eldoret National Polytechnic Rugby Women Shine at KATTI North Rift Games
Eldoret National Polytechnic’s Rugby Women team has emerged victorious at the recently concluded Kenya Association of Technical Training Institute (KATTI) North Rift Games held at Kitale National Polytechnic. This triumph is the result of rigorous training and dedication.
The games featured eight teams from Eldoret National Polytechnic competing in various sports, including hockey, rugby, handball, and volleyball for both men and women. The institution achieved remarkable success, securing seven trophies out of eight categories. Sports Cabinet Secretary Fidel Juma praised the athletes for their outstanding performance, announcing that the qualified teams will advance to the Nationals in Siaya County later this month.
“Rugby women finished first, while the men placed second. Our volleyball women also secured the top spot, with the handball women advancing as champions and their male counterparts following closely in second place,” Juma stated. Unfortunately, the men’s volleyball team did not make it to the finals.
Monica Njeri, captain of the Rugby Women team, emphasized that their victory against Kitale National Polytechnic was hard-earned. “What led to our success was consistent training, and I would like to thank the management for nurturing women’s rugby in the Rift Valley,” Njeri said.
With their impressive performance, Eldoret National Polytechnic is poised for strong representation at the upcoming national competition.
