The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) community proudly welcomed home its representative from the prestigious WorldSkills competition held in Lyon, France. Lamex Odanga, a Mechanical Engineering CAD competitor, and his trainer, Jimmy Chepng’oswo, were received by Chief Principal, Dr. Charles Koech, in an event that celebrated their remarkable achievement on the international stage.
The delegation included Ms. Ednah, standing at the extreme right, and Mr. Chepkwony, the Head of Department, at the extreme left, all of whom were present to honor the institution’s successful representation at the WorldSkills 2024 competition.
Representing both TENP and Kenya, Odanga demonstrated exceptional talent in Mechanical Engineering CAD, a field that demands precision and innovation. The competition, known for gathering skilled youth from across the globe, showcases world-class technical abilities, and Odanga’s performance was a source of pride for the institution and the country.
Dr. Koech expressed his delight at the accomplishment, noting that their participation on a global platform has not only raised the profile of TENP but also demonstrated Kenya’s technical capabilities. “This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of both Lamex and his trainer, Jimmy. We are incredibly proud of them for showcasing the strength of our technical training on an international level,” Dr. Koech stated.
The success of Odanga and his team in France is expected to inspire more students at TENP to excel in their fields, further solidifying the institution’s role as a leader in technical education in Kenya.
WorldSkills is an international competition that promotes vocational education and skills, offering young professionals a chance to showcase their talents across a variety of industries. This year’s competition in Lyon was highly competitive, featuring participants from over 85 countries.
The return of the TENP team marks a new chapter of excellence for the institution, with the leadership promising to continue supporting its students to achieve more on the global stage.
