Police in Eldoret have arrested 7 Suspects selling stolen electronics worth millions of shillings.
They were arrested at Petresha buildings in Eldoret CBD.

According to Uasin Gishu Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi, this is after police raided four electronic shops where they recovered suspected stolen items valued at millions of shillings.

“We have been getting information from members of the public that after their houses have been broken into their electronics are taken to some within the town where they are sold. That’s why we conducted a raid in their said shops,” said the Uasin Gishu Police Commander.

He noted that police are continuing with investigations to arrest more suspects.

“We have over 170 phones, 33 laptops, 27 Gas cylinders, laptops, fridges, microwaves and other electronic appliances at our disposal awaiting identification by the members of the public,” added Mwanthi.

He called on the members of the public to continue giving police information promising to take stern actions against those involved.
“We appeal to the public whose belongings were stolen to come and identify them at the Eldoret Police station carrying receipts. Residents should also do genuine business in which they were licensed,” he noted.

The suspects will be arraigned in Court on Wednesday.

He further applauded the police for a job well done which has led to a decrease in insecurity cases and the intake and sale of illegal liquor.

“As I am talking cases of insecurity, sale and consumption in our county has reduced by 50 percent, I want to applaud them for that,” he said.

County Criminal Investigation Officer Daniel Muleli said investigations are going on and more suspects involved in the same will be arrested.

“Today it was Turbo Sub-county, we will carry raids across the Country until cases of stealing electronics are a thing of the past,” he said.
