Eldoret: Residents Want Cheap Gas

A section of Eldoret residents now want President Ruto to fulfill his promise of cheap gas.

They said despite having high hopes on his promise nothing has been done.

According to John Koech citizen in Eldoret town, the promise from the national government has continued to fade away with the citizens being left vulnerable.

“We as Kenyans have lost hope in the current regime since they have failed to meet the promises they made to us and hence making life more unbearable,” said Koech while speaking to the press.

They said the lack of affordable gas has led them to embrace alternative ways.

“This delay in the provision of the gases has led us to embrace new methods to necessitate cooking such as using the new Coco gadget and using kerosene which is still expensive,” added another citizen.

The national government through the Finance Bill 2023/24 had proposed to ensure an import duty-free economic state on importation of cooking gas as an attempt to deliver cheap gas supply to Kenyans.

However, the implementation of this Finance Bill was suspended by the court and thus leading to a halt in the cheap gas supply hence leaving the citizens in the current strenuous state.
