Eldoret:21 Years Old Crying For Justice After Kanjo Poured Hot Cooking Oil On Her
Linda Chepchumba is seeking for Justice after Uasin Gishu enforcement officers poured hot cooking fat on her.
According to the 21-year-old lady, she was heading home when the incident happened at the Eldoret Chepkoilel stage.
The incident took place on 27th July Thursday.
“It was around 6:30-7:00 pm when I was heading home after work, I went straight to Chepkoilel stage reaching there were many passengers so I decided to board a bodaboda,” she said.
She noted while heading to the bodaboda, there was commotion where the enforcement officers alias Kanjo were chasing traders.
“I reached where women were selling fried fish, and the enforcement officers kicked the fish bucket with hot cooking fat which burnt my right hand, stomach, back, and part of my left hand,” she added.
Chepchumba a Safaricom dealer, says she was in pain for over fifteen minutes when no one even the Kanjo came to her rescue.
“ I cried for help for over 15 minutes after Kanjo saw what I was going through they flew away leaving me alone. The enforcement who poured cooking oil on me is called Barmasai while the driver Robert,” said the 21-year-old.
She is currently undergoing medication at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital where doctors say she had 30 percent burns.
“I have stayed in this hospital for over one month now, I am calling up all well-wishers to come out and help me pay the hospital bill. I was the only breadwinner while my parents were jobless. Whatever the little I will appreciate,” she added.
“My message to those who did the heinous act should come out and help me settle the bill because my parents are poor and have nowhere to get resources but the bill is unbearable,” the 21-year-old said.
Chepchumba said despite reporting the matter to the police no arrests have
been done.
Kimutai Kirui Human Activits for Center Against Torture called for the arrest and prosecution of the enforcement officers that were involved.
“I want to call upon Governor Jonathan Bii to reign on his officers for them to handle residents humanly. Police should also carry out investigations and those involved arrested and charged,” Kimutai said.
