Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Message to Kenya Kwanza Government
The Elgeyo Marakwet governor, Wisley Rotich, has called on the ruling government to look into the insecurity issue in Kerio valley which has led to the loss of lives.
Speaking during the thanksgiving ceremony held in Koilel farm Uasin Gishu county, he said this will reduce the loss of lives that has been the order of the day in the region.
“I buried 120 people in a period of 8 months towards the nominations due to insecurity in Kerio valley. I want to request that we start arresting a few criminals so that all the counties in Kerio valley may live in peace. As governors we are committed to working together with the clergy and the church to end the chaos,” said the Elgeyo Marakwet governor.
He further called on the government to remove the sanctions that are preventing investors from setting up companies that will employ the youth.
“There are many investors who wanted to start companies in Kenya that would help the youth secure employment but were locked out by sanctions. In this region, the Fluorspar Company, Arror, and Kimwarer dam projects were shut down. All these would have brought employment to the youth. I request the Kenya Kwanza government to revive the projects and allow investors into the country for the revival of our economy,” he said.
Other leaders who attended the event included national assembly speaker Moses Wetangula, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, majority leader of the national assembly Kimani Ichungwa, senators Kipchumba Murkomen, Samson Cherargei, Hillary Segei among others.
