Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua Speaks Out After Hospitalization
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua addressed the media today at his Karen residence after a three-day hospitalization due to sudden illness, coinciding with his ongoing impeachment proceedings at the Senate. Gachagua expressed gratitude to Kenyans for their prayers and well-wishes during his recovery.
In a shocking revelation, he accused President William Ruto of betraying him by ordering the withdrawal of his security personnel while he was hospitalized. “It is unfortunate that during my time in the hospital, my brother and friend, President Ruto, ordered the withdrawal of my security officers. I was left alone to fight for my life,” Gachagua stated. He also reported that this order extended to his security at his rural home in Nyeri and his private residence in Karen.
Gachagua expressed disbelief at Ruto’s actions, saying, “I am shocked that the man I helped become president could turn against me in such a vulnerable time.” He warned that if anything were to happen to him or his family, Ruto should be held accountable.
As Gachagua recovers, the political implications of his statements continue to unfold, highlighting a deepening rift within the leadership.
