Zulfikar Ousman Bhachu, a former aspirant for Huruma Ward MCA, has openly criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of tribalism. Bhachu argued that Gachagua often focused solely on his ethnic community while neglecting the broader needs of Kenya’s diverse population of over 50 million people.

“Gachagua consistently spoke about his tribe and concentrated on just one part of Kenya. We need leadership that represents the entire nation,” Bhachu stated. He suggested that future legislation should allow the president to hire and fire their deputy to prevent such scenarios, or alternatively, the president and deputy president should run for office separately.

Bhachu also congratulated Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on his nomination as Deputy President following Gachagua’s impeachment, calling him the ideal candidate for the role. “We trust that Kindiki will perform excellently in this position,” he remarked, adding that another strong contender for the role would have been Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, whom he praised for his work.

In his remarks, Bhachu urged President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to focus on lowering the cost of living and uniting Kenyans. He emphasized the need for political stability, highlighting the negative impact of political tensions on business.

“When political temperatures rise, businesses suffer. We need political tolerance and stability for our economy to thrive,” Bhachu concluded.
